On October 1, 2021, Crisis Stabilization Centers were adopted into New York State (NYS) Mental Hygiene Law, Article 36.01. This is the first joint initiative between both the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS). This session will detail the inception of Crisis Stabilization Centers in NYS, offering a high-level overview of the program model and how this initiative connects to the developing Comprehensive Crisis Response System. Important features will include core components of the two types of service models, how these services may assist individuals with diversion from higher levels of care and maintaining wellness in the community, and how these programs connect to the broader system of NYS Emergency Medical (Response) Services. Additionally, overview of relevant components of OMH’s Comprehensive Crisis Response System, including 988 and Mobile Crisis, will be provided. NYS CME: All Levels - Core - Psychiatric
