Post-traumatic growth is more than just recovering; it’s about reconfiguring and becoming a better person than before the mental injury occurred. DanSun’s journey took him from battling his demons to releasing his nightmares through artwork, created from calls he experienced as a paramedic and firefighter. He opens up about how the job nearly destroyed his life, but also how his story connects with others who may recognize their own struggles and realize they are not alone. More importantly, he shares the things he has done—and continues to do—to build resiliency and recover from mental stresses. His message is simple: if he can experience post-traumatic growth, then others can too. Through DanSun Photo Art, his images are now shared worldwide by hundreds of thousands of peers, offering both connection and healing. His work has become not only his therapy, but also a source of comfort and strength for many in the community.
