Two of the most common physiological risk factors that EMS patients deal with is diabetes and obesity. These two health risk factors are closely related and develop together. With the new fads in diets, and medications, in particular GLP-1 medications for weight loss, these patients experience multiple symptoms related to diabetes. Diabetes is commonly encountered in the prehospital environment, yet not completely understood.
