Joe Connelly is the author of Bringing Out the Dead, the acclaimed novel that inspired the Martin Scorsese film starring Nicolas Cage, drawn from his years as a New York City paramedic in the 1980s and ’90s. A founder of NYCMedics, Joe has brought emergency relief to disaster zones around the world. He now serves as director of the Johnsburg Emergency Squad in the Adirondack Park, works as a paramedic with the Newcomb Fire Department, and patrols the slopes at Gore Mountain. He is currently writing his third novel, exploring the realities of rural EMS in upstate New York. Join us in the exhibit hall and visit with Joe as he shares a snippet of his new novel.
